Cassie slept in until mid-morning. This was unusual for her as she liked to be an early riser so she could make the most of her day. However, considering the busy and hectic day she had traveling and moving into her new home it was understandable.
Despite still feeling exhausted, today was another big day. More unpacking, grocery shopping, and exploring her new neighborhood. It sounded like a lot but it was all stuff that she needed to get done, at least before her new potential roommates arrived. Of course, she had other important decisions to make but they could wait another few days.
After getting ready for the day, it was time for a quick late breakfast before setting off. Cassie felt it was best to leave unpacking until later in the day as she didn't have too much left to do so the first task was grocery shopping.
That shouldn't be too difficult now, should it? Apparently so. Not knowing how much to buy or if what she was buying was too much or too little, Cassie felt overwhelmed by it all. Eventually, Cassie managed to remind herself that this was all new unexplored territory for her and that the more she did it the more she will get used to it.
After a somewhat successful trip, she got home, unpacked, and decided to head straight back out to explore the neighborhood. Despite not knowing if she picked up the right items when doing her first grocery shop, she told herself that she will make it work for the time being.
The walk to explore her new neighborhood was well-needed. Cassie took it as an opportunity to reflect on the last few days. It was very different to Bridgeport. Much quieter and full of lovely views and lots of open spaces. It was only a snapshot of what San Sequoia had to offer as she still hadn't headed into the main town itself. That was the plan for another day. Her landlord had left some magazines and leaflets about the town for her to read through when she had a chance.
Cassie eventually found somewhere to sit down for a short break. She hadn't checked her phone since she had started the walk other than to shuffle her playlist. She glanced at her messages and cleared some notifications. She sat back on the bench and had to laugh momentarily. The song that had just started playing was entitled, Young, Dumb, Stupid.
It got her thinking, was this what she expected. Cassie was still young herself, had a lot to figure out, and still a lot of unknowns to discover and learn about. At that moment she did feel young, dumb, and a little stupid. However, the moment made her smile. Deep down, she knew she would be okay in the long run, she just needed to find her feet and settle in.
As the night drew in, Cassie returned home from her walk and decided to ignore the remaining boxes that needed unpacking. Instead, she made herself a grilled cheese sandwich, curled up on the sofa, and switched the TV onto a random channel.
She felt happy to have some time to just relax. Her phone pinged once again it was her landlord messaging to see how she was getting on and to let Cassie know that he should have more information about her new roommates soon. She chose not to reply and instead decided to snuggle back into her blanket on the sofa and just relax while she could.
