Well, it has definitely been a bit of a manic couple of weeks since I posted the first SimLit Diaries entry. After experiencing the changing of my Sims face and body from the patch on the 18th of April, I decided to wait until a hotfix was released before I continued creating the Sims for this story.

In the meantime, I spent time slowly starting to bring my story to life via my Yellow Llama Co Planner*. I've had great fun using the planner and if you follow me on Twitter, will have seen that I even picked up a physical copy of the planner too.

I've been using my planner on my iPad so that I can somewhat access it as and when I need to as well as alongside my laptop when I'm working on my SimLit. However, this is where the tech failure in the title comes in. My iPad factory reset itself out of the blue recently and I lost all the progress that I had made. I thought it was backed up but sadly it wasn't. Now this was my own fault mainly and nothing else. Also, my iPad is from around 2018 so the fact it is still running pretty much with no major issues (other than this) is pretty surprising.

Now, I was feeling pretty mad and disappointed with myself for losing all the progress that I had made initially. I took a short break and thought to myself, maybe this was meant to happen and meant to be. I had plenty of notes written out in Notion that I could easily transfer back over into a new blank planner. I could recall the parts I had recently worked on, it would just be the odd detail here and there I would need to work on.

With the planner looking all fresh and shiny, I started again and in actual fact, it was a pretty refreshing feeling as I could look back at my Notion notes and think is this still what I want or actually, this might work better. Looking back, my iPad fail actually worked out to my benefit.

Next steps? To continue planning and start creating the Sims I need in-game now that the hotfix has landed. I was apprehensive about doing too much in-game creation while there were some game bugs. I did use the time to experiment with some potential character looks as well as finding the perfect location in The Sims 4 for this story to take place. Needless to say, that time did not totally go to waste.

Despite the setbacks, I feel I'm making good progress and have even added some exciting new ideas into the mix! I'm hoping to be able to share more soon so stay tuned!
